All About Hong Kong

Hong Kong photos and travelling tips, by a local Hong Konger.

December 17, 2007 20:58 - My Recent Phone Calls...

[This post is a bit sarcastic. It may offend you, especially if you are a tele-marketer.]

Today around 4:15pm, my phone rang.

Here goes the dialogue:

Line: Thanks for using our xx Bank for such a long time. I would like to extend our bank's gratitude to you by offering you a special tax financing plan, (Blah Blah ... for 3 seconds to ensure I don't put down the phone).... Have you received the letter that our Bank sent out earlier?

Me: Yes, (dying tone) .... I've thrown it away already.

Tele teller: oh... you did not have to pay the tax coming due?

Me: Yes, but I just do not need to borrow money to pay for it.

Tele teller: oh, (embarrassed)... thank you ... thank you for using our bank.

[end]

Did I sound rude? I surely did, then, why did I still sound like that? Was I trying to boast the fact that I did not need to borrow money for the loan?

Nope!

I received the same tax loan calls for more than 3 times and received 2 letters in the past 2 months!

I have received tons of these calls these days, no matter it is a credit card offer, free insurance offer, and mobile call upgrade offers. I *hate* tele-marketers. Well, in fact, I pity them more than I hate them, for the obvious reasons.

It is so annoying to receive calls that I don't need/ want. I think if those tele-marketers don't spend so much time on some untargetted suspects, I surely don't need my mobile call plan upgrade(s).

If you complain no one calls you/ care for you, come and live in Hong Kong. You will at least get 2 caring calls every day to keep you look busy. Your mobile phone compan(ies) will surely be glad to confirm you that. :)
