Hong Kong International Airport

Getting To Hong Kong

The international traveler has no way to enter Hong Kong but by air. The landing zone is none other than the Hong Kong International Airport better known as Chek Lap Kok locally (having been named after the small island it was built on).

The Hong Kong International Airport is an epitome of excellence and convenience and has facilities, which are a case in point as to what world-class facilities are all about.

The Hong Kong International Airport located at Chep Lap Kok has to credit the enviable reputation of being one of the largest infrastructural projects undertaken globally.

The airport terminal building is an architectural marvel and the largest single building in Hong Kong, being the brainchild of none other than British architect Sir Norman Foster.

Flights to Hong Kong operate from every continent in the world and North America may have one flight per day whilst London may have as many as ten flights per day.

Hong Kong is a tourist hub and is evidently very well connected with countries all over the world; however, an exception lies for South America. Flights to Hong Kong from neighboring countries such as Singapore, Tokyo, Manila and Bangkok range from ten to even forty flights per day!

It is no wonder then that the Hong Kong International Airport is rated as the third most busy airport in Asia (in terms of passengers) and the second busiest (in terms of cargo traffic) being second to only Memphis in USA.

The Hong Kong International Airport is strategically located forty kilometer from central Hong Kong. The Airport is now the home to a diverse group of airlines ranging from Cathay Pacific and Air China to Thai Airlines and the United Airlines.

Hong Kong Symbol?

You may find this weird looking statue at the exit of the Hong Kong airport, if you choose to leave by bus. At a first glance, the color and the shape look like an octopus to me. Gifted by China, it's claimed to bring fortune to Hong Kong.

What can be considered as an art work is personal at times ;)

Hong Kong Skyline

I enjoy visiting Hong Kong airport every time. It gives me a sense of freedom. Being able to see the skyline maybe counted as a blessing, especially you are living in a concrete jungle like Hong Kong.

Yellow Top Vehicles

All vehicles permitted to enter into the take off area have a yellow top. A warning signal to the planes which are taking off, maybe.

Hong Kong Airport trolleys

You can tell how many people visit Hong Kong by just estimating the number of trolleys.

Hong Kong Airport Unique Crew Bus

By its appearance, can you guess what this Benz tour bus for?

It serves the crew.

My friend designed it some years ago.

Many other tour companies have copied the design, and I am proud of my friend. :)

You find easy directions when you are at Hong Kong airport and may learn some Chinese too.

Exiting Hong Kong airport

Picture taken at the exit, nice architecture, agree?

Convenient Transportation Network

Don’t like buses? You may always have an option.

Strategically connected to central Hong Kong the Airport Express takes just 30 minutes to cover the distance between the Hong Kong International Airport and Central Hong Kong.

However, I don’t like taking trains. I like buses rather, because they are cheaper and the stops bring me to spots where I can take pictures.

Feeling overwhelmed or not sure how to get around? Drop me a line, ... well, I may not be your tour guide, but I can surely offer a tip or two.
