Dialogue in the Dark ("DiD") is a different visit from ordinary Hong Kong tourist spot. In complete darkness, visually impaired staff guide you to explore a specially constructed exhibition.
Inside the exhibition, there are five different settings: a park, a market, on the street, a movie theater and a café. Each setting has unique sounds, smells, textures and even tastes; without eyesight, you will have to depend on your other senses to discover yourself.
In the dark, the blind becomes sighted while the sighted are led by the blind - our roles are reversed. You will learn to appreciate the world without eyesight - there is still so much beauty to be found without light.
The exhibition is a unique journey through the dark that is not only fun and exciting, but will also alter your perception towards visually impaired people and the way you use your other senses in daily life.

I had the chance to come to the DiD on Nov 27, with my church buddies. It was a really good experience to say the least.
The visually-impaired guide who toured us through the exhibition was a middle-aged man called Anthony, who was a nice person to spend an hour with.
Together with my four other friends, we had a great time in the dark. Anthony told us that his eye-sight was impaired during his mid-20s; when he was busy working on his family business. He told us that he had difficulty to accept the fact that his cornea fell off during his prime time, and became blind as a result.
Anthony was working in DiD as a partime, while he was a computer technican with his normal 9-to-5.
At the end of the tour, Anthony told us that he knew a blind person who had committed suicide after his vision was 80% restored. He did not tell us the reason and perhaps no one would realy know the reason.
A side story:
Anthony wondered why our team was not afraid of the dark and was able to complete the journey so quickly. One of my team members replied to Anthony, "We are Christians, and not really afraid of darkness." Anthony was amused by our reply :)
Below are some of the images taken at DiD. Of course, there are no pictures of the "exhibition" items for the obvious reason :)
