Said to be the largest IPO (initial public offering) in history, Bank of China has been accepting applications from investors for the past week. Today is the last day for submission.
You would see swarm of people gathering at various branches of Bank of China, this afternoon, stuffing checks and stock application forms into the drop boxes. What a scene!
It's amusing when you realize "the players of Hong Kong stock market" are some 50-60 year-old "uncles and aunties" from our neighbourhood.
When it comes to making money from the stock market, Hong Kongers are no fools.
Will I become one of these "little fish & shrimp" when I get to that age?
I hope not, provided that I can still operate my laptop and camera :)
Note:
1) "little fish & shrimp" pronounced as "Yu Mo Ha Mo" in Cantonese - a term to describe little investors whose investment is "rather" insignificant.
2) "Mr./Ms. Yeung" is used to describe someone who blindly follows the stock market (buying when high, selling when low). Yeung has the same pronunication for "sheep" in Cantonese.
