All About Hong Kong

Home : UnReal HK Diary : April 2006 : 2006-04-22

April 22, 2006 09:35 - Hong Kong cultural change

Yesterday night, I was watching an old movie by Alan Tam, a local celebrity. The movie was taken in 1986-1990. From the details, you could see some of the cultural value back then in the 90s.

Back in the 90s, engineers, lawyers, accountants, doctors were well-respected professionals.

The fact has changed after 1997. Today, being a "professional" means you have a heavy financial load, by having tons of debt to pay - e.g. mortgage, long working hours (80 hours) and etc.

It's true that, working class can barely enjoy life in Hong Kong.
