Legal Sexual Harrassment
The alarm went off when I passed through the custom at the Shanghai airport. A securtiy lady literally searched all over me, to ensure I was not bringing in any prohibited article.
I did not feel odd until she rubbed my back pocket,... yes, you guess right - my butt. It's rub.
No exaggeration.
Now I know how a sexual harrassment could be made legal ;)
I thought I should ask for some compensation.
But then, whom should I ask? Forget it, I was in China.
Data Privacy
When checking into several hotels in China, I realized there was no data privacy whatsoever. My identification card was publicly displayed on the front desk, and whoever came close to the counter could easily peek and find out my personal details such as DOB (Date of Birth), full name, and my photo displaying my 18 year-old look.
Honestly, I don't really mind but the people around me do.
Not that because of my look :)
It's because my co-workers' ages were revealed. Many Hong Kong women/ ladies DO mind and are very particular with their ages.
I think Chinese hotels should do something about this. But again, it lies in the culture. It takes time to change.
In the meanwhile, I just stay further from the counter to avoid unnecessary embarrassment.
