All About Hong Kong

Home : UnReal HK Diary : August 2005 : 2005-08-22

August 22, 2005 14:53 - Let's go veggie!

SCMP reports:

"Cancer chemical is found in fish

Hong Kong's food scare intensified last night after five kinds of freshwater fish imported from the mainland were found to contain malachite green, the same cancer-causing chemical found last week in eels."

Let's take an inventory, we have these:

1) Avian Flu (the chickens)

2) Malachite's green (seafood)

3) Unknown virus (pork)

What else are there? Probably plenty. Maybe veg is the best way to avoid getting food poisoned.

Oh, I nearly forgot, it was reported vegetable imported from China was fertilized with toxic chemicals some years ago. Mr. Tsang (Chief Executive): What shall we (Hong Kongers) eat?
