All About Hong Kong

Home : UnReal HK Diary : August 2005 : 2005-08-17

August 17, 2005 19:45 - The Happiest Day

A 77-year-old woman was interviewed by TVB after she went to the Disneyland rehearsal grand openning. She was so happy that she proclaimed today was the happiest day for her whole life.

Did she really lead such a bitter life or was Disney really so much fun?

Even though I've been to LA a couple of times, I have never been to Disneyland. I am not too passionate with fake mouses, ducks, or dogs and real fireworks.

Well, I just don't like to be pushed around and get into fantasies, no matter what type they are. ;)

August 17, 2005 20:29 - Marriage in Hong Kong.

I got a phone call from my cousin who is getting married next month. Argh... the red bomb again! :) It's much better than having some unfamiliar co-workers handing me theirs. I should be glad. It's tough for Chinese to get married.

First they need to read the Chinese calendar to see if a particular year is "futile" or "rich". (Don't ask me how, I don't know.)

Then, you have to arrange hotel, marriage registration and announce to the world that you are getting married.

No wonder nine out of ten newly-weds would comment "No Next Time."
