All About Hong Kong

Home : UnReal HK Diary : August 2005 : 2005-08-09

August 9, 2005 19:40 - Retirement in Hong Kong.

It's reported that the annual growth rate for MPF fund has been around 5.4%. A total asset of $140Billion Hong Kong dollars have been accumulated. For a 25 year working person who saves $1,000 per month, s/he will get a little bit more than $3,000,000 when s/he retires. Is that a lot? I can't say for sure, as the inflation in Hong Kong is quite high too. A Coke in Hong Kong sold for $2.5 in 1985 and now it's around $5.5 - $6. Thus, sadly to say, $3,000,000 is not really enough for a 20-year retirement. What to do? Save your own nest of eggs.
